Thursday dating events in the UK work as ticketed singles nights, not app matches. You buy a ticket on thursday.com, where Thursday says checkout needs no login and profiles are optional with no matching, or through the free Thursday Events app by Honeypot Dating LTD, then turn up to what it bills as a bar where everyone is single.
Updated 4 October 2026: new title and summary; App Store count updated to 199; going-alone FAQ added; links to the cost and worth-it posts; Google Play figures and some asides cut.
This is the third piece in our Thursday file, after whether the app still exists and whether it works outside London.
What happened to the Thursday dating app?
Global Dating Insights reported on 10 January 2025 that Thursday had announced the app’s closure, citing “rapidly declining consumer interest”, and that co-founders George Rawlings and Matthew McNeill Love would concentrate on ticketed events worldwide. GDI’s two million users and £2.5 million seed round are company claims, unverified here.
How do Thursday dating events work in the UK now?
The clearest account is Thursday’s own. On the Thursday London organiser page on Fatsoma, read by this desk on 20 September 2026, a banner says tickets have moved to the brand’s own website, and a post dated “Wed 3rd Jun” (no year printed; 3 June was a Wednesday in 2026, not 2025) explains the move: tickets are bought on thursday.com with faster checkout, no login required, a purchase history and optional profiles, “still no matching here”. The events, it says, have not changed.
For a UK reader the sequence is:
- Find an event. London’s list sits at thursday.com/events/london; the free Thursday Events app carries city-specific listings, ticketing and updates, per its GB App Store description.
- Buy a ticket on thursday.com.
- Turn up. Fatsoma’s tagline is “Just a bar, everyone single.” App Store reviewers describe a host and ice-breaker games at a London event.

The old-app column is Bustle’s 2021 report of the founders’ launch claims, none of it current.
What no Thursday page read will tell you
Price: thursday.com/events/london answered 200 but delivered no text, and the App Store listing shows no in-app purchase line (our cost post covers what is known). Cities: Fatsoma names London and Infernos and nothing north of them; that question has its own post. Entry age: the store ratings, 4+ on Apple and PEGI 3 on Play, rate the app’s content and say nothing about who gets into a bar.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Thursday dating app still active?
No. Global Dating Insights reported on 10 January 2025 that Thursday had announced the closure of the once-a-week swipe app, citing what the company called rapidly declining consumer interest, and that the co-founders were moving to ticketed Thursday Events. What survives is the events business and a separate events app, not the matching app.
What is the Thursday Events app?
It is a free app on the GB App Store from a developer listed as Honeypot Dating LTD, rated 4.5 from 198 ratings when this desk read the listing on 20 September 2026. Its description promises city-specific event listings, ticketing and updates. The version history shows 6.0.3 dated 7 September, so it is still being maintained. On 4 October 2026 it showed 199 ratings.
How much do Thursday events cost?
This desk cannot tell you. The thursday.com London events page answered 200 on 20 September 2026 but rendered no readable text, and neither the GB App Store listing nor the Fatsoma organiser page prints a price. Until a Thursday page states one in plain text, none is claimed here.
Can you go to a Thursday event on your own?
Yes, by one attendee’s account. A London writer who went alone to a Thursday rooftop event wrote in September 2024 that its event pages then said “40% of people attending the event come on their own”, though she met no one else who had. That is one night, not a figure read on a Thursday page. Whether a ticket repays the trip is weighed in our worth-it post.
None of this is a recommendation to buy a ticket, and nothing above says Thursday or Honeypot Dating is regulated or vetted by anyone; no page we read claims it.
